Based on the uplifting
real-life story of the Von Trapp family,
The Sound of Music tells the story of Maria, the
spirited young woman who leaves the convent to become the
governess to the seven children of Captain Von Trapp, an autocratic
widower. Through her youthfulness and zest for life, Maria brings
joy and love to a family amidst the danger of a Nazi-controlled
Austria.
The Sound of Music was the last collaboration of Rodgers and
Hammerstein, and one of the most successful Oscar-winning film
musicals of all time. This timeless family classic touches the
hearts of all ages with a score that brims over with some of the
most memorable songs ever performed on the musical stage including
"Climb Every Mountain", "My Favourite Things",
"Edelweiss", "Do Re Mi", "Sixteen Going
On Seventeen", "The Lonely Goatherd", and of course
"The Sound of Music".
