| L. Frank Baum's classic 'The
Wonderful Wizard of Oz' was revisited when Gregory Maguire's
1995 novel, 'Wicked: The Life & Times of the Wicked Witch of
the West', created "one of the great heroines of fantasy
literature" (Los Angeles Times), explaining how a
misunderstood green girl named Elphaba became 'wicked' and how her
unlikely friend, Glinda, became 'good'. Winning 15 major awards, this "spectacular spectacle" (New York Post) transports audiences to a fantasy land of wizardry and witchcraft with Grammy Award-winning music, Tony Award-winning sets and costumes, and stunning special effects. The cast incudes Alexia Khadime , Dianne Pilkington , and Oliver Tompsett under the direction of Joe Mantello. The exceptional team that has brought this captivating story to life on stage includes many of Broadway's most celebrated talents: the Oscar and Grammy Award-winning composer and Lyricist STEPHEN SCHWARTZ (Godspell, Pocahontas, The Prince of Egypt), writer WINNIE HOLZMAN (My So-Called Life, The Wonder Years, Thirtysomething), scenic designer EUGENE LEE (Tony Award-winner for Candide, the original Sweeney Todd and Wicked), costume designer SUSAN HILFERTY (Into The Woods, Tony Award-winner for Wicked), lighting designer KENNETH POSNER (The Odd Couple, Hairspray), and choreographer WAYNE CILENTO (Disney's Aida and a Tony Award-winner and Olivier Award nominee for The Who's Tommy). |
